Oops! I Forgot

I posted a couple of days ago about being selected to blog for Prevention magazine about their Flat Belly Diet. I was supposed to come back and give you all the link to the blog. And I forgot. Sorry about that.

Anyhow, here it is: Buzz Prevention. I hope you will visit and keep me motivated. Admittedly though, I'm not sure this will work for me. The diet is great and the recipes are wonderful. However, with my "lazy" thyroid, I am not having much success. I am enjoying having a good excuse to eat dark chocolate though--like I ever needed an excuse. ;)

Omega 3s for Heart Health

After yesterday's post on Omega fatty acids, I got to thinking about the Omega 3 supplement that I take. It is called Super Omega-3 EPA/DHA with Sesame Lignans & Olive Fruit Extract and it's from a company called Life Extension.

When my doctor first gave me this supplement, it was because she found that I have a heart arrhythmia. This is the reason that I have had miserable chest pains for the last five years. Chest pain that my previous doctors ignored, I might add.

Anyhow, my doctor said that she also had an arrhythmia. She managed it for 15 years using Omega-3 fish oil supplements and she recommended that I do the same. She went on to tell me about how she has a degree in chemistry as well as her medical degree. She knows quality supplements and Life Extension is the one she always recommends to her patients. She said it is because they have the science to back up their products.

So, I am pleased to report that since I started taking Life Extension Super Omega-3 EPA/DHA with Sesame Lignans & Olive Fruit Extract, my chest pains have nearly disappeared! I was so surprised because, even though I am a firm believer in natural supplements and herbs, I was really skeptical about this working.

I wanted to share this with all of you, even if you don't have an arrhythmia. Consuming Omega-3s help promote a healthy heart. And that is always a good thing.

Omega Fatty Acids

I read an interesting article the other day about farmed tilapia fish and Omega fatty acids. The reason this struck me is because my new diet required me to eat tilapia, something I have never eaten before. And I will probably never eat it again.

The article discussed the findings of Omega 6 fatty acids and how tilapia has a high amount of it. Now, you are probably thinking that this isn't a bad thing. Omega fatty acids are supposed to be good for you, right? Well, not this kind. Especially if you suffer from chronic pain.

According to a recent study, Omega 6 fatty acids contribute to inflammation. This is a big problem if you suffer from osteoarthritis or any other illness involving inflammation.

If that isn't bad enough, this inflammatory response is also linked to damage to blood vessels, your heart and lungs and joints. So much for adding fish to your healthy diet. And it isn't just tilapia that's guilty. Catfish that has been farm raised is just as bad.

This isn't to say that eating all fish is bad. Quite the contrary, fish is a very healthy food if you are careful to make the right choices. For example, in another article it is shown that fish that are oily actually improve inflammatory conditions. This is because they contain large amounts of Omega 3 fatty acids. This is the good kind that you want to have in your diet, especially if you suffer from chronic pain. Oily fish are also believed to protect against cancer and reduce macular degeneration.

So, what are good choices for fish in your diet? Try these:
*Salmon
*Mackerel
*Trout
*Sardines
*Tuna
*Swordfish

You can find a complete list at Food Standards Agency in their article What's an Oily Fish.

My Latest Announcement

I bet you thought I was going to forget, didn't you? Actually, I almost did forget. :) But I promised an announcement so here it is.

I will be blogging for Prevention magazine about their book The Flat Belly Diet! I was selected as one of 85 participants who will read the book, try the diet and blog about our experiences. I'm so excited!

I wanted to announce it here first because this is more like my personal blog. I have several other blogs, but Easing Chronic Pain is my baby. :) As soon as my blog is up and running, I will post the link here. I hope all of you will visit and offer me a bit of encouragement. I'm sure I will need it!

My goal is to lose 15 pounds. I think with this book and support from all of you, I can do it. I know once I lose some weight, I'll feel so much better. My hope is that I'll be able to start walking again and get this pain to a manageable level.

Introducing My New Sponsor

I wanted to take a moment to tell everyone about my sponsor
GoDaddy.com
. I have added their banner to the top of my blog for two reasons.

1. I need to earn some income from my blogs. I have a family to care for and my health just doesn't allow me to work an outside job.

2. GoDaddy.com is the best place to go for your own domain.

Now, you might think I'm a hypocrite because this site is on Blogger. However, Easing Chronic Pain was established long before I discovered GoDaddy.com and my new website domain is from GoDaddy.com.

You can visit it at www.CornerstoneWebService.com. I'm still playing with the template so don't be surprised if you see it change from one visit to the next.

I'm hoping to establish a reliable clientele that will allow me to earn a reasonable income from home. So if you have a business in need of web copy or content, or if you know someone who does, please send them my way.

And when you're ready to build a site of your own, go to GoDaddy.com yourself and see how much they have to offer. You won't find a better deal. The service is excellent and the prices are amazing. If you go through me you can even save 10 percent. It doesn't get better than that!

Thanks for letting me share this with you. I appreciate the support of my readers and while I don't intend to go crazy with ads, I do hope you understand the need for them.

Come back tomorrow for another announcement that I am excited to share with you. :)
