Ease Pain with Chiropractic Care

I can remember when I was younger, my parents took me to a chiropractor to try to help my migraines which I have had all of my life. I was always very tense because I hated being "popped" and I would leave with a worse headache than I came in with.

There have been many changes in the techniques used by chiropractors today. Many of my friends keep telling me to give it another try. Recently I asked a chiropractic expert about the use of this type of treatment in aiding chronic pain from migraines, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and lupus.

Here is what I was told by Dr. Micheline Cote:

Thank you so much for your inquiry about chiropractic care for relief of migraines, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and lupus. It is not entirely possible to deal with these ailments in the same way at the same time as it is such a vast subject but suffice it to say that I have had many patients improve from migraines in my office. The percentage of patients who respond favorably I would estimate at 90%. This being a conservative number as I remember only a few patients, less than five, I had to refer out after a month or two of care in my 25 years of practice.

I have also had a few success stories with fibromyalgia patients when there wasn't excessive toxicity or stress associated with these cases. It is more difficult to put a percentage of response as these cases are much rarer and the victims don't often seek the care of a chiropractor as they are told that nothing can help their situation.

Chronic fatigue syndrome is even less commonly seen in my office and is not well understood by all health professions. The Epstein-Barr virus is not an entity that has been described at length but if it is a viral infection then the problem would be with the immune system of the individual not able to overcome this virus.

Lupus being described as an auto-immune disease would also be in the same category as chronic fatigue syndrome as a weakened immune system. There are many ways to strengthen your immune system as you probably know. Get more rest, reduce stress with techniques such as meditation, eat properly, exercise regularly and regular chiropractic care to handle disturbances in the nervous system which could interfere with the proper function of your immune system as they are intimately connected.

If I had a member of my family stricken with any of these ailments, chiropractic care would be at the top of my list of recommendations as you cannot sleep well if your nervous system is impeded by your structure, you also cannot process food properly, absorb it properly, eliminate it properly, exercise with ease, cope with stress appropriately, functions that are very basic to heal and strengthen your systems especially your immune system.

Very sound advice I think. Has anyone experienced success with chiropractic treatment?
