I am a bit behind on my reading, but I just read an article about flu shots for people with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. I, personally, have never been a fan of flu shots. I remember my mom getting them and it seems like she always ended up with the flu. However, I can understand why people with a compromised immune system would want to consider it. The flu is no fun and in some cases can be deadly.
Medical experts often do not recommend flu shots for their patients with FMS/CFS. The reason for this is the rate of relapses. Often the shot is just too much for the patient. We know that we are sick all the time anyhow. I sure don't want something to add to it.
There are two exceptions to this. The doctor in the article I read said that patients with emphysema, diabetes and heart disease in addition to their chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia should still consider getting a flu shot. Also, if you have had flu shots in the past with no problems, you can probably safely consider one again.
My personal recommendation is one also mentioned in the article. It is a homeopathic remedy called Oscillococcinum. I can't say it, but I promise you that it helps. You can buy it anywhere, so don't feel that because it is homeopathic you'll only find it at a heath food store. I like to keep some in my cabinet during flu season, just to be prepared.
Do any of you have remedies for the flu that work for you? Please share them here.

I'm asthmatic and I'm suppose to get a flu shot, but I don't. I've never have. I don't have any remedies, but I take vitamin C every day, drink plenty of water, exercise daily and eat as healthy as possible.
I used to take echinacea and it seemed to have worked, but you can only take it up to 6 weeks. Any time longer than that is ineffective.
